I try to be a good mom — but I’m not as patient (or supportive) as other moms.
I love listening to the radio show The Story, hosted by Dick Gordon. He interviews all sorts of just plain (but very interesting) folk. Yesterday he interviewed the Howe brothers, twins who invented (in their garage — with parts from a junkyard) an unmanned vehicle that can go into places by remote control (so the tank can go into danger zones where you wouldn’t want to send people).
The brothers talked about how they’ve been inventing things all their lives. And the talked about how they used to do things in their basement. One time they decided they wanted to try to make methane. I mean what would you do if you were a mom and your kids were taking the dog poop down to the basement? I didn’t quite follow the timelines and I’m not sure if this was before or after they blew up the woodstove by putting an (unopened) can a soup in the stove. I’m not replaying this episode for my kids. Just sayin.
