Endgame – the search ends

Today it was announced that Bobby Fischer died at 64.

He was (rather) eccentric, reportedly anti-American and anti-Semitic.

But “back in the day” he made chess “cool” here in the US

and it remains so to this day

(course, there is a part of me going “gee, he was still alive” so I’m not like heartbroken or anything)

  1. Jewish self-hatred is nothing new. There have been books and articles written on the subject. Fischer’s denial of his roots is offensive and hurtful. He was brilliant but quite weird.
